>> Combined Churches Magpie Committee
A brief history
In the early 1990s, during the "International Yew for Indigenous Peoples", a group of Christians met in Northern NSW. Pastor Della Walker from Yamba Aboriginal Community suggested that such a group of "Black and Whites" meeting together could borrow the name from the black and white bird, the Magpie.
Now, more than 13 years later, the Magpie Group
is stronger and more active than ever, with members from Wauchope to Tweed
Heads, NSW, and many other States of
Australia. We are Christians from different Denominations, who meet and work
together, so that bridges can be built between Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal
Christian Communities and between Churches.”
